Google’s AI product names are confusing as hell

Google's I/O presentation showcased a confusing array of new AI products with overlapping features and inconsistent naming. From Gemini and its various iterations (including Gemini 2.5 Pro Deep Think) to Deep Search, Search Live, Gemini Live, Google Lens, and numerous other AI tools, the sheer number and similar functionalities caused widespread confusion. The company's rapid release schedule, driven by competition and shareholder pressure, seems to have prioritized speed over coherent branding. Google's internal organizational structure, with separate teams developing similar technologies, may also contribute to this chaotic rollout.
