Chinese scientists have developed near-infrared contact lenses allowing mice and humans to see in near-infrared light. Unlike bulky night vision goggles, these biocompatible lenses utilize nanoparticles to convert infrared light into visible light. Tests on mice showed a clear preference for infrared-lit areas when wearing the lenses, demonstrating successful near-infrared vision augmentation. This technology offers a less invasive alternative to previous methods.
