US oil firms pumping secret chemicals into ground and not fully reporting it

A new analysis reveals that Colorado oil and gas companies have injected at least 30 million pounds of undisclosed chemicals into the ground since July 2023, violating a state transparency law. Chevron is the largest offender, with over half of the non-compliant wells. Environmental groups express concerns about public health risks due to the lack of transparency, particularly highlighted by an April well blowout near Galeton that released undisclosed chemicals. The state's Energy and Carbon Management Commission (ECMC) claims to be working on compliance, but critics say enforcement is too slow.
