American Pope Leo XIV, the 267th pontiff, was inaugurated in a grand ceremony at St. Peter's Square, attended by world leaders including US Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. His inaugural Mass included a condemnation of the exploitation of the poor and a call for unity within the Church. Leo received the symbols of his office, the pallium and the fisherman's ring, and delivered a homily emphasizing humility and service. He also called for peace in Ukraine and aid for Gaza.
