Pope Leo XIV made his first trip outside the Vatican to visit the Shrine of the Mother of Good Counsel in Genazzano, Italy. The shrine houses an ancient image of the Virgin Mary, significant to previous Popes. Pope Leo, greeted by cheering crowds, prayed at the shrine, expressing his devotion and trust in the Virgin Mary. He cited Mary's words from the Wedding at Cana, urging obedience to divine guidance. This visit followed his earlier Mass at the shrine as a cardinal.
