FDA approves first cervical cancer screening device that can be used at home, company says

The FDA approved Teal Health's at-home cervical cancer screening kit, using the Teal Wand device. This allows women to self-collect vaginal samples for HPV testing at home, mailed to a lab for analysis. The process is as accurate as provider-collected samples and aims to increase screening rates, especially among those with limited access to healthcare. The kit requires a prescription and will be available nationwide starting in June, with insurance coverage currently under discussion. The American Cancer Society praised the approval for its potential impact on early detection.
