Following Pope Francis' death, a new Pope has been elected after a conclave of cardinals. The election, signaled by white smoke from the Sistine Chapel, is followed by a rapid series of events. The new Pope chooses a papal name, is vested in papal garments prepared in advance, receives the Fisherman's Ring, and then appears on St. Peter's Basilica balcony to address the world. A formal installation mass follows a week later.
