America's measles outbreak reaches terrifying milestone

The US has surpassed 1,000 confirmed measles cases in 2024, the second time this has occurred since 2000. Texas accounts for the majority of cases, with two unvaccinated children fatally affected. Over 96% of those infected were unvaccinated, highlighting the vaccine's effectiveness. Experts warn the US could lose its measles-elimination status if transmission continues. The highly contagious virus causes fever, cough, and rash, and can lead to serious complications, particularly in young children.
