TikTok has been fined €530 million by the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) for breaching EU data protection rules. The fine comprises €485 million for transferring user data to China, contradicting previous claims, and €45 million for failing to be transparent about these transfers. The DPC stated that TikTok's practices materially diverged from EU standards. While TikTok claims to have deleted the data and updated its privacy policy, the DPC is investigating further action.
