The 2024 Tony Awards nominations brought both surprises and snubs. Notable snubs include the complete shutout of "Othello," despite its star-studded cast and box office success; Kieran Culkin's absence from the awards race; and Idina Menzel's failure to receive any nominations for "Redwood." Conversely, "Our Town" surprisingly secured a nomination for best play revival, and James Monroe Iglehart received a nomination for his performance in "A Wonderful World." "Purpose" exceeded expectations, garnering multiple acting nominations, while Fina Strazza's performance in "John Proctor Is the Villain" also earned recognition. The musical "Real Women Have Curves" was surprisingly omitted from the Best Musical category.
