Alan Alda's 1981 film "The Four Seasons", about midlife marital crises, is remade as a Netflix miniseries. The original depicts a husband abandoning his wife for being "inert", showcasing a potentially misogynistic view. The remake, however, expands on the story, giving more depth to all characters, particularly the abandoned wife, Anne. While the original quickly dismisses Anne, the new version portrays her journey of self-discovery and resilience after the divorce. Both versions explore the complexities of long-term relationships but with vastly different perspectives on female characters.
