Two cardinals, Antonio Cañizares of Spain and John Njue of Kenya, will miss the upcoming papal conclave due to health reasons. The Vatican previously announced two cardinals would be absent but didn't name them. Cañizares, archbishop emeritus of Valencia, and Njue, archbishop emeritus of Nairobi, will not travel to Rome to participate in the election of Pope Francis' successor. This leaves 133 cardinal electors eligible to vote, needing a two-thirds majority to elect the new pope.
