Do I need a REAL ID if I have a passport?

Starting May 7, 2025, the TSA will require a REAL ID or acceptable alternative for domestic flights. A valid, unexpired U.S. passport is an acceptable alternative to a REAL ID. Other accepted IDs include passport cards, DHS Trusted Traveler cards, and more. While a passport suffices, the TSA recommends obtaining a REAL ID for convenience. Check your driver's license for a gold star indicating REAL ID compliance. Expired passports will not be accepted.
