Starlink Satellite Photobombs Google Earth Image
Tap title to read story
A Starlink satellite was unexpectedly captured in a Google Earth image while traversing Texas. This rare event, caused by a French Pléiades imaging satellite, shows a fully deployed Starlink satellite with extended solar panels, a detail rarely seen publicly. The image highlights growing concerns about space debris and orbital congestion, as thousands of satellites, mainly Starlinks, populate Earth's orbit. This interference affects astronomical observations from Earth and space-based telescopes, impacting scientific research. The incident underscores the increasing complexity of orbital traffic and the evolving relationship between humanity's technological footprint and space exploration.
