Thousands of mourners visited Pope Francis's tomb at St. Mary Major Basilica in Rome on Sunday, the second day of official mourning. A simple white tomb marked with "Franciscus" in Latin, a single white rose, and a replica of his pectoral cross were displayed. Many expressed their gratitude and admiration for the late pontiff. Cardinal Pietro Parolin, a potential candidate for the next pope, celebrated a special Mass in St. Peter's Square, attended by an estimated 200,000 people. The conclave to elect his successor is expected to begin between May 5th and 10th.
