High Chicken Intake Linked to Increased Mortality Risk

Read, Watch or Listen

A new study published in *Nutrients* suggests a link between consuming over 300 grams of chicken weekly and a higher mortality risk, particularly from gastric cancers. The 19-year study of over 4,000 participants showed a 27% increased risk of death for those exceeding this amount compared to those consuming less than 100 grams. Male participants showed a more than doubled risk of death from gastrointestinal cancer. While the study has limitations, including a lack of data on cooking methods and physical activity, it highlights the importance of balanced protein intake and mindful portion control.
