A new study published in *Nutrients* links consuming over 300 grams of chicken weekly to a heightened risk of mortality, particularly from gastrointestinal cancers. Researchers followed over 4,000 participants for 19 years, analyzing dietary habits and mortality rates. The study found a 27% increased risk of death for those exceeding 300 grams of poultry weekly compared to those consuming under 100 grams. Male participants showed a more than doubled risk of gastrointestinal cancer death at high consumption levels. While the study highlights associations, not causation, and has limitations, it emphasizes the importance of balanced nutrition and portion control regarding poultry consumption.
