Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 review: A debut that exceeds expectations

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, from Sandfall Interactive, is a turn-based RPG set in a dystopian world where a ritual called Gommage erases people at a specific age. Expeditioners undertake annual missions to confront the Paintress, responsible for Gommage. The game features a unique art style blending Belle Époque and art deco, innovative combat combining real-time action and strategy, and a compelling story exploring themes of hope and legacy. While the ending is somewhat flawed, the strong voice acting and engaging characters elevate the experience. Released April 24th on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X.
