Texas measles outbreak surpasses 600 cases with most among children, teens

A measles outbreak in Texas has reached 624 cases, with most affecting unvaccinated individuals. The outbreak, centered in Gaines County, has also resulted in hospitalizations. Several other states, including Montana (its first cases in 35 years), have also reported new measles cases in 2025. The CDC confirms over 800 cases nationwide, mostly in unvaccinated individuals. Public health officials emphasize the importance of MMR vaccination, noting that two doses offer 97% effectiveness against measles.
