The Lyrid meteor shower, active since April 17, peaks Monday night into Tuesday. While a waning crescent moon will dim the show, observers in the Northern Hemisphere can still expect to see around five meteors per hour. For optimal viewing, find a dark location, let your eyes adjust, and avoid phone screens. The Lyrids, one of the oldest known meteor showers, originate from Comet Thatcher. Other meteor showers are expected throughout 2025, along with full moons and eclipses in September.
