Sinners' Box Office Success: Coogler & Jordan's Thriller Dominates
Tap title to read story
Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan's horror thriller "Sinners" debuted at No. 1, earning $48 million domestically and $63 million globally. This marks the biggest opening for an original film since the pandemic, showcasing the duo's box office power and proving audiences want more than just sequels. However, with a $90 million production budget and significant marketing costs, "Sinners" needs to gross around $200-$225 million globally to break even. The film's strong reviews and positive audience response, including an "A" CinemaScore, suggest a promising theatrical run, particularly given the high percentage of younger viewers and premium format ticket sales. The success contributes to a broader box office upswing.
