Tap title to read story
Blue Origin's 11th human spaceflight launched an all-female crew, the first since 1963, sparking both celebration and criticism. The mission, featuring celebrities like Katy Perry and Gayle King alongside accomplished women in STEM, highlighted the ongoing disparity between female representation in space and genuine gender equity within the aerospace industry. While lauded for its visibility, critics argue the flight was a publicity stunt lacking commitment to addressing systemic barriers that prevent women from leadership roles and decision-making in aerospace. The event raises critical questions about the meaning of representation and the need for structural change to achieve true equality.
