The Lyrid meteor shower, peaking on April 22nd, offers the best viewing in the predawn hours (3-4 a.m. local time). Earth's position after midnight allows for increased meteor visibility as it faces the cometary debris stream from Comet Thatcher. The radiant point, from where meteors appear to originate, should not be directly observed for optimal viewing of longer trails. Observers are encouraged to share their photos with Space.com.
