Seven dengue cases in Hawaii prompt travel warnings for Oahu visitors

Hawaii's Department of Health confirmed a new travel-related dengue fever case on Oahu, bringing the state's total to seven in 2025. Six cases are on Oahu, and one on Maui. The latest case is unrelated to earlier April cases. Officials emphasize the risk for those traveling to or returning from dengue-prone areas (Central/South America, Asia, the Pacific, Caribbean). Travelers should take precautions against mosquito bites for three weeks post-travel and seek medical attention if symptoms develop within two weeks of return. Several other countries are also experiencing dengue outbreaks.
