A new Star Wars standalone film, "Star Wars: Starfighter," is slated for release on May 28, 2027. Set approximately five years after "The Rise of Skywalker," the film will feature Jedi or Force-sensitive characters and is directed by Shawn Levy, with Ryan Gosling starring. The announcement, including a teaser trailer, was made at Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025. While unconnected to the video game, the film is part of a larger Star Wars plan including a new trilogy and other projects, with potential appearances by Daisy Ridley and possibly Jesse Plemons.
