Shawn Levy et Ryan Gosling ont annoncé "Star Wars : Starfighter" à la Star Wars Celebration à Tokyo. Ce film indépendant, situé cinq ans après "L'Ascension de Skywalker", commencera sa production cet automne et sortira le 28 mai 2027. Il s'agit d'une nouvelle aventure sans lien avec la saga Skywalker, mettant en scène des personnages originaux et une histoire décrite comme ayant "du cœur et de l'aventure". Écrit par Jonathan Tropper, le film est un projet prioritaire pour Lucasfilm.
