Shawn Levy and Ryan Gosling announced "Star Wars: Starfighter" at Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo. The standalone film, set five years after "The Rise of Skywalker," begins production this fall and releases May 28, 2027. It's a new adventure unrelated to the Skywalker saga, boasting original characters and a story described as having "heart and adventure." Written by Jonathan Tropper, the film is a priority project for Lucasfilm.
