Eli Lilly announced positive results from a clinical trial of orforglipron, a new daily pill for Type 2 diabetes. The pill demonstrated comparable effectiveness to injectable drugs like Mounjaro and Ozempic in lowering blood sugar and aiding weight loss. In a 40-week trial with 559 participants, orforglipron lowered blood sugar levels by 1.3 to 1.6 percent, bringing 65 percent of participants into the normal range. This oral medication offers a potentially more accessible and convenient alternative for the millions affected by Type 2 diabetes and obesity.
