Scientists have found the origin of WATER on Earth - and say it didn't come from asteroids after all

Oxford University scientists have discovered that Earth's water originated from within the planet itself, contrary to the popular belief that it came from asteroids. Their research, published in Icarus, analyzed an Antarctic meteorite with a composition similar to early Earth. Using X-ray analysis, they found this meteorite to be incredibly rich in hydrogen, a key component of water. This suggests Earth's building blocks contained sufficient hydrogen to form its vast water supply, although some surface water may still have been delivered by asteroids.
