CDC considers narrowing its Covid-19 vaccine recommendations

The CDC is considering shifting its Covid-19 vaccine recommendation from a universal annual shot for everyone over 6 months to a risk-based approach. This would align the US with other countries like the UK, Canada, and Australia, and the WHO, which don't recommend annual shots for healthy younger adults and children. A risk-based approach would prioritize annual vaccines for older adults (over 65), immunocompromised individuals, and those at high risk of exposure (healthcare workers, daycare children). While some committee members expressed concerns about implementation and potential insurance coverage issues, a majority favored the risk-based approach, pending a June vote.
