Auto stocks rise as Trump says he wants to 'help' some car companies

President Trump's statement regarding aid for automakers transitioning production to the U.S. boosted shares of several companies. Following a meeting with Salvadoran President Bukele, Trump indicated he's exploring ways to assist automakers adjusting to previous tariff implementations. While Ford, GM, and Stellantis saw significant gains (1-4%), Tesla's shares dipped slightly. This follows Trump's April 3rd imposition of 25% tariffs on imported vehicles, despite recent tariff reductions for other sectors.
