Charlie Kirk murder suspect can wear civilian clothes in court, judge says

A Utah judge ruled that Tyler Robinson, 22, accused of killing right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, may wear civilian clothes at pre-trial hearings to avoid biasing jurors, while remaining in least restrictive restraints. Judge Tony Graf cited public attention and reaffirmed Robinson’s presumption of innocence, barring photos or video showing restraints. Despite no prior criminal history, he noted safety and the emotional nature of the case. Robinson, arrested on 12 September, faces seven charges including aggravated murder; prosecutors are seeking the death penalty. He was not physically present for Monday’s virtual hearing; an in-person appearance is set for 16 January.
