In a 60 Minutes interview from Mar-a-Lago, US President Donald Trump played down a US war with Venezuela but said Nicolás Maduro’s days may be numbered. He defended strikes on alleged drug-smuggling boats in the Caribbean after reports at least 64 people have been killed since early September, and would not rule out land strikes. Trump decried migration and the gang Tren de Aragua, signaled a return to nuclear testing as his energy secretary emphasized non-critical blasts, and blamed Democrats for a monthlong shutdown. He also cited a $16m CBS settlement earmarked for his future presidential library.
