Man floats away inside his home during Alaska's storms: "I was inches away from death"

Remnant storms from Typhoon Halong battered western Alaska on Oct. 12, pushing record-high water and blistering winds that displaced more than 2,000 people and prompted one of the most significant airlifts in Alaska history. At least one person died and two are missing. In Kwigillingok, Steven Anaver’s house tore from its foundation and floated about a mile as water rose to his knees within minutes; neighbors later helped him out. Troopers rescued at least 18 people there and 16 in nearby Kipnuk; at least eight homes in the two villages were pushed off foundations.
