New York City recorded at least one storm-related death after a 76-year-old woman was fatally struck by a solar panel torn from a parking-lot structure in Brooklyn during Sunday’s nor’easter. Exclusive videos show the panel flying about 20 feet before hitting her on a sidewalk near Ocean Parkway and West Brighton Beach Avenue around 10:30 a.m.; she died at a hospital. City officials issued stop-work and vacate orders at 3000 Ocean Parkway, closed the sidewalk and Q train entrance, and began inspections. Peak gusts hit 42 mph in Brooklyn; the Parks Department logged 265 downed-tree reports. Cause remains unknown.
