Louvre heist work of petty criminals, not organized crime, prosecutor says

Paris’s prosecutor says last month’s $102 million Louvre jewel robbery was carried out by small-time criminals, not organized crime. Two men used a movers’ lift to reach a second storey window, smashed cases with angle grinders, and fled on scooters with two accomplices in under seven minutes. Three of four suspected thieves are believed under arrest, while the jewels remain missing. Two men from Aubervilliers partially admitted involvement; a man and a woman were later charged, with DNA tying him to the truck. Both deny involvement. At least one suspect is still missing; more accomplices are possible.
