Jonathan Karl’s forthcoming book reveals Mike Pence’s previously unpublished Jan. 6 notes, capturing Donald Trump calling him a “wimp” as Pence refused to block Joe Biden’s certification — even jotting an angry emoji and “You listen to the wrong people.” Court filings say special counsel Jack Smith planned to use those notes, late edits to Trump’s Ellipse speech targeting Pence, and forensic iPhone data to argue Trump knowingly misled voters. Smith later wrote admissible evidence was sufficient for conviction, but Trump’s 2024 reelection and a Supreme Court immunity ruling curtailed and ultimately ended the case.
