After 11 hours trapped beneath debris, a 66-year-old worker was pulled alive from the partially collapsed Torre dei Conti in central Rome late Monday, officials said. The rescue, involving about 140 firefighters—some digging with bare hands—was briefly halted when the 95-foot medieval tower suffered a second partial collapse. The man was taken to a hospital; his condition was not released. At least three other workers were rescued, two unharmed, and one, 64, hospitalized with a head injury. The cause is under investigation.
