Mayfield lifts Bucs past shorthanded 49ers, 30-19

Baker Mayfield delivered early, not late, guiding the Tampa Bay Buccaneers past the San Francisco 49ers 30-19. Early in the fourth, he wriggled free on third-and-14, then hit Tez Johnson for a 45-yard touchdown to make it 27-19; the rookie celebrated his first score with a flip. Jamel Dean’s interception of Mac Jones on fourth-and-5 halted a 49ers drive and set up Chase McLaughlin’s 45-yarder to seal it. Jones threw for 347 yards with two picks while filling in for Brock Purdy. San Francisco lost linebacker Fred Warner to a right ankle injury.
