Judge Warns Trump Officials of Sanctions Over Remarks

Federal Judge Waverly Crenshaw warned Trump officials of sanctions for inflammatory statements about Kilmar Abrego Garcia that could taint his trial. He ordered prosecutors to circulate his opinion to all DOJ and DHS staff, naming Attorney General Pam Bondi and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, and criticized exaggerated or inaccurate claims—including branding Garcia MS-13 and tying him to a murder. The court reminded parties that opinions on guilt and comments about a defendant’s character are barred. Crenshaw also rebuked the defense over plea-talk disclosures. Garcia was mistakenly deported, later returned under a human-smuggling warrant, and pleads not guilty.
