Ninth Circuit Vacates Ruling on Oregon Guard

The Ninth Circuit agreed to rehear, en banc, a ruling that had cleared the way for deploying National Guard troops in Portland, vacating a decision by two Trump-appointed judges and restoring Judge Karin Immergut’s restraining orders. For now, 200 Oregon Guard members remain federalized but idle as legal arguments continue over protecting the ICE building after months of protests. Portland and Oregon sued in September; a broader trial begins Wednesday in U.S. district court while the larger appellate panel sets no hearing date yet.
