North Korea said it successfully test-fired sea-to-surface cruise missiles that flew for more than two hours before striking targets in its western waters, adding they would expand the operational sphere of its nuclear-armed military. South Korea’s Joint Chiefs said the launches occurred around 3 p.m. Tuesday in the North’s northwest and are being analyzed with the United States, with combined readiness maintained. The report came hours before an expected Trump–Lee Jae Myung summit in Gyeongju during APEC. Senior official Pak Jong Chon attended the tests and inspected sailors on new destroyers. Seoul says a Trump–Kim meeting is unlikely.
