Jon Stewart Signs Extension for ‘Daily Show’ Through 2026

Jon Stewart will stay on The Daily Show once a week through 2026, Comedy Central said, extending a return that has lifted ratings on Mondays while correspondents lead other nights. The deal, hailed as a win by Ari Pearce, lands amid a shrinking late night field: CBS will end The Late Show in May and exit the genre, while NBC’s Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers remain. It’s Stewart’s first extension under Paramount chief David Ellison, whom President Trump praised even as he blasted Meyers; Stewart has been a Trump critic. Paramount also sealed a $1.25 billion South Park pact.
