ICE arrests top educator at Iowa's largest school district

The superintendent of Iowa's largest school district, Ian Andre Roberts, has been arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for allegedly overstaying his student visa and facing a firearms offense. Roberts, a citizen of Guyana, entered the U.S. on a student visa in 1999 and was ordered deported in 2024. ICE found him with a loaded handgun and other items. The school district expressed shock, calling Roberts an integral part of their community, while ICE highlighted the arrest as a success in removing public safety threats.
