France warned it could bar Shein from the French market after authorities said the platform listed sex dolls with a childlike appearance. The items were available on Shein’s French site until 4 a.m. Monday, BFMTV reported. Finance minister Roland Lescure called them illegal and said repeat offenses could prompt a ban. The anti-fraud office DGCCRF referred the case to prosecutors and the telecom regulator, noting heavy penalties under French law. Shein told BFMTV it removed the listings and is strengthening safeguards. The uproar lands days before Shein opens its first physical store in Paris, the first worldwide.
