FBI Announces Charges in NBA Betting, Poker

Federal authorities announced two sweeping probes into illegal sports betting and mafia-linked poker games, charging dozens, including Miami Heat player Terry Rozier and Portland Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups. Rozier was among six arrested in an alleged insider-betting scheme tied to seven NBA games; prosecutors say he tipped associates before a March 2023 Hornets game, while his lawyer vehemently denies wrongdoing. In a separate case, Billups is among 31 accused of rigging high-stakes poker with organized-crime backing. The NBA placed both on leave as the FBI touted a coordinated 11-state takedown.
