Demolition on the White House's East Wing has begun as work advances on President Trump's planned ballroom, despite his earlier assurances the project wouldn't "interfere" with the existing structure. The Washington Post first reported the teardown, later captured on pool video. During a Monday event with LSU's championship baseball team, Mr. Trump said construction "just started today." The $250 million addition is fully privately funded by business and big tech, including Apple, Microsoft and Coinbase. The ballroom is slated to seat 999 and feature bulletproof glass; the East Wing houses the first lady's staff.
