An ACT Airlines Boeing 747 freighter operating under an Emirates wet lease skidded off Hong Kong International Airport’s north runway before dawn Monday, striking a security patrol car and plunging with it into the sea, authorities said. The two people in the car died; the four crew were unhurt. Weather was suitable. One runway remained closed while two continued operating, with flights said to be unaffected. Investigators are probing the accident and seeking the cockpit voice and flight data recorders. The plane, arriving from Dubai with no cargo, broke in two; TV images showed its nose above water.
