Elderly Cruise Passenger Found Dead on Lizard Island

A woman in her 80s on a 60-day luxury cruise was found dead on Lizard Island after being left behind by the Coral Adventurer. Queensland Police said her death was sudden and non-suspicious. The captain reported her missing at 9 p.m. Saturday, prompting a land-and-sea search with police and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority. It remains unclear when she died or why she wasn’t accounted for at departure. AMSA will question crew when the ship docks in Darwin on November 2. Coral Expeditions said it is deeply sorry and is supporting her family.
