An 80-year-old passenger, Suzanne Rees, died on Lizard Island after the cruise ship Coral Adventurer left without her, prompting a police and maritime investigation. Rees became separated during a hike on the remote Great Barrier Reef island; she was reported missing that night and found dead Sunday morning. Her daughter accused the crew of a failure of care, saying police told the family it was extremely hot, Rees felt unwell, and was advised to return alone before the ship departed without confirming all were aboard. Coral Expeditions offered condolences and authorities will probe the non-suspicious death.
